Key roles are helping the students, whether it is day to day support, arranging studio tours, guest speakers, social events and promotions for the school.
As a Student Services Director she tends to student needs, which may include everything from admissions to assistance with job placement.
As a Production Designer, Ria develops the design of the projects with the Cinematographer. Often assisting in directing and applying SFX make-up to add to the quality level of the plates.
When not raising their 3 amazing kids, Mark and Ria spend time developing the the school and designing projects to ensure that Lost Boys is providing the best VFX education possible.
Ria studied 3D Animation and was the previous Co-Owner, Administrator and part-time Animation Instructor of a digital animation school for 4 years. This included teaching motion studies, acting for animators and animation basics , introduction to Camera and lighting in 3D,curriculum design and development.
It also included developing administration systems and procedures and reporting to PPSEC (prior to PCTIA) and Student Aid.
Her past experience also includes film and theatre and she has worked on-set in various positions from Camera Assistant, 1st and 2nd AD and as a Special Effects Make-up and Prosthetic Artist, which she continues to do with student projects.
Her years of experience in the film industry, education field and administration combined, give her a qualified view on project aesthetics and production needs.
Professional Memberships & Industry InvolvementRia is currently the secretary of the local Visual Effects Society and a education committee member. She has been very evolved as a board member and has organized the Celebration of Animation and Visual Effects for 2013 and has assisted in past years celebrations. This year due to the Chair being away ill she was the voice of the VES Vancouver section at the last AGM meeting.
As an education committee member she arranges Artist Spotlight and workshops for the education chair and assist with the Career fairs and the job board.
Ria is a member of the the Screen-Based Media Industry-Education Advisory Committee and is actively speaking for the smaller focused private schools.
